Which Isoparaffin To Use?

Typically, these solvents are widely used for industrial cleaning:

1. Petroleum solvents: gasoline, kerosene, diesel oil;

2. Halogenated hydrocarbons: dichloromethane, tetrachloroethylene, chloroform;

3. Aromatic solvents: benzene, toluene, xylene;

4. Ester and ketone solvents: ethyl acetate, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone;

5. Alcohol ether solvents: methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, diethyl ether;

6. Glycol ethers: ethylene glycol monomethyl ether, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, propylene glycol methyl ether, propylene glycol diethyl ether.

In the cleaning industry, the application of solvents is mainly to remove oil, remove polymer dirt and remove dirt on printed circuit boards.

Iso-alkanes are a new type of cleaning solvent, which is more and more used in industrial cleaning because of its good performance. Isoalkanes have obvious

advantages in the cleaning industry:

1. Low toxicity. According to toxicological tests, the inhalation toxicity, oral toxicity and skin contact toxicity of isoalkanes are very low toxicity,

and non-carcinogenic substances, which is safer for cleaning workers.

2, green environmental protection. The pH value of isoalkane is generally 6.5-7.0, and the waste liquid after cleaning is neutral, no acidification reaction occurs,

and no heavy metal ions. The cleaning waste liquid has no odor, can be degraded naturally, and can save the cost of wastewater treatment.

3, better cleaning performance. Like most lubricants and anti-rust oils, iso-alkanes are non-polar fractions. According to the theory of similarity and compatibility,

 iso-alkanes have better cleaning performance than halogenated hydrocarbons and water-based cleaning solvents.

4, good compatibility. Isoalkane almost does not contain moisture, chlorine, sulfur and other corrosive substances, will not corrode and rust various metal

materials. In addition, it is a non-polar solvent and therefore does not dissolve most plastics and rubber.

5, evaporation loss is small. The boiling point of isoalkane is generally above 150 ° C, and the volatilization loss during use and storage is much less than that

of halogenated hydrocarbons with boiling point of 40-80 ° C. In addition, iso-alkanes have swelling and embrittlement effects, so they can be widely used.

6. More cost effective. The density of isoalkane is about 0.75, which is much lower than the density of halogenated hydrocarbon solvent, so the consumption

of isoalkane for the same cleaning purpose is only half of the halogenated hydrocarbon.

Due to these advantages, the future iso-alkanes will replace more and more traditional cleaning solvents.
